China released Here are spherical panoramic photos of the Martian

According to the news of China Daily, the National Space Administration of China and the Chinese Academy of Sciences shared the panoramic photograph, in which the entire surface of Mars is depicted with different projection methods, at a ceremony held in Hifey, the center of Anhui province, on the occasion of April 24, celebrated as “Space Day” in China.

The photographs were created by projecting the surface of the Red Planet onto the two-dimensional surface using Robinson projection, Mercator projection, azimuth convergent projection and orthographic projection.

IT REACHED THE COMBINATION OF 14,757 IMAGES TAKEN IN 284 TIMES

The high-resolution photographs, in which each point represents 76 meters of space, were created by combining 14,757 images taken by the Mars satellite Tienwin-1 in 284 expeditions in planetary orbit between November 2021 and July 2022.

It was noted that the photos are intended to be a reference for scientists and engineers to prepare better ground maps for Mars exploration activities.

THE NAME OF CHINESE VILLAGES TO THE LANDFORMS DISCOVERED ON THE SURFACE OF MARS

On the other hand, Chinese scientists reported that in the Tienvin-1 exploration mission, they named 22 of the landforms discovered in the region where the spacecraft landed, after the villages that have an important place in Chinese history and culture.

On July 23, 2020, China sent reconnaissance vehicles consisting of a satellite, landing shuttle and rover robot for the Mars mission “Tienvin-1”.

The exploration vehicles reached the Red Planet on February 10, 2021, after a journey that took 202 days, and the Tienvin-1 satellite started its operation on this date.

The robotic rover Curong landed on the surface of the Red Planet on May 14, 2021, making China the second country after the USA to carry out exploration activities on the surface of Mars.

The expedition mission “Tienwin”, which means “to seek the truth in the heavens” in Chinese, takes its name from the lines of the Chinese poet Qu Yuan, who lived in the 4th century BC. The mobile robot is named after the god of fire and war in Chinese mythology. (Source: AA / Photos: China Daily)
