China introduced the prototype of the “CR450” model of the domestically produced Fuching (resurrection) series high-speed trains, which can reach speeds of up to 450 kilometers per hour.
According to Xinhua, China State Railways Group exhibited the prototype called “CR450BF” in Beijing.
It is aimed to complete the technical tests of the prototype of the CR450, whose maximum speed is expected to be 450 kilometers per hour and its commercial voyage speed to be 400 kilometers per hour, and the train will be put into service in 2025.
It is planned to create a new infrastructure with updated rail technologies for the new generation train.
High-speed trains currently used in China can reach a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is anticipated that with the CR450 coming into service, the duration of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed train service, which takes more than 4 hours, will be reduced to 2.5 hours.
In the test run on the Meycou Bay Bridge, which connects the cities of Fucou and Shiam in Fujian province in June 2023, the speed of the train reached up to 453 kilometers per hour.
China’s high-speed train network, which reaches 46 thousand kilometers, constitutes 70 percent of the world’s total capacity. The country aims to increase its high-speed train network to 50 thousand kilometers in 2025. (AA)
