China demands foreign embassies operating in the country to remove

China has sent instructions to embassies that display the Ukrainian flag. China requires embassies to intervene in political propaganda.

China has informed foreign embassies operating in the country that they must remove foreign propaganda from their premises.

Although China does not directly say what it is referring to, instructions have been sent to such embassies that have displayed the Ukrainian flag.

Several embassies and consulates have displayed the Ukrainian flag as a sign of support for Ukraine.

– We and many others received an official letter asking us to remove political propaganda from the parts of the embassy visible to the outside, the diplomat, who remained anonymous, told the news agency Reuters.

The diplomat said that the embassy is not going to comply with the request.

Diplomats from three other countries also told Reuters of a similar request from Chinese authorities.

It is known that at least the embassies of Canada, the European Union, Great Britain, Germany and Poland have displayed the Ukrainian flag.

China has not condemned Russia’s illegal war of aggression in Ukraine.

Some embassies operating in Beijing have also displayed rainbow flags as a show of support for sexual minorities. It is not yet known whether China’s ban also applies to these symbols.

In recent years, China has intervened with a heavy hand in the activities of activists defending the rights of sexual minorities.
