Dozens of Chinese warships and fighter jets simulate attacks on Taiwan during the second day of China’s military exercise. The three-day exercise involves encircling Taiwan. Nine Chinese warships and 58 aircraft have been spotted around the island, according to Taiwan’s Defense Ministry, which is closely following China’s exercise. China’s exercise is taking place in the air and at sea in the Taiwan Strait, on the island’s northern and southern coasts and east of it, the Chinese military said. The purpose is to show Taiwan and the outside world China’s military strength. According to Chinese state television, China is practicing encircling Taiwan. It has “simulated joint precision strikes against key targets on the island of Taiwan and the surrounding waters,” reports CCTV. The exercise is necessary to secure China’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, said army spokesperson Shi Yin.
