The Salon du livre et de la presse jeunesse (SLPJ) in Seine-Saint-Denis is held December 1 to 6, 2021 in Montreuil. This year, the show revolves around the thematic of “We!“. This theme celebrates, through children’s literature, the collective, the team spirit, the living, the way in which the group is constituted.”This choice, at a time when the relationship with the common has been weakened, and the relationship with the other manhandled in multiple ways, allows us to question our relationship with others and the way of doing things together.“, explain the organizers of the show in a press release. In parallel with the show, a large literary festival is organized, a monumental exhibition of children’s illustrations and professional meetings in Montreuil. During the show are also offered original programs with many guest artists, creative capsules, cartoons, readings …, to be enjoyed with the family from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The nuggets of the show
The announcement of the Pépites, an award for the Youth Book and Press Fair – France Télévisions with the support of Okoo, marks one of the highlights of the youth edition and of the Salon This year, the jury will deliberate on Wednesday November 27 to award “les Pépites” (the prizes that the Salon’s reading committees have selected), while a professional jury of journalists will choose the “Gold Nugget” among all the books. in competition. Finally, the Nuggets “Illustrated book “,” Fiction Junior “,” Fiction Ado “and” Bande Dessinée “ will be awarded by juries of young readers.
With 20 titles in competition divided into 4 categories “Illustrated Book”, “Junior Fiction”, “Comic Strip” and “Teen Fiction”, this selection brings to light the originality, the singularity and the quality of the creation of the youth edition. On December 1, at the opening of the Show, one winner per category will be chosen by juries of 36 children and adolescents aged 8 to 18, selected from over 600 young people. As for the Gold Nugget, awarded that same day by a jury of literary critics, it will once again crown the best title of the year among the 20 in competition.
