Children receive stopping hormone | SVT News

Despite stricter recommendations for stopping hormones for children, 41 children started hormone treatment last year, SVT’s review shows.

Last year, the National Board of Health and Welfare’s recommendations on stopping hormones that are given to children with gender dysphoria to stop the development of puberty were changed. According to the authority, the risks outweighed the benefits.

Since last year, the treatment must only be given in exceptional cases until research studies are in place. SVT’s review shows that 625 children between the ages of 10 and 17 have received hormone replacement therapy since 2012.
