The tragic event took place in December 2020. Two adults had undertaken to guard the one-year-old, writes Smålands-Tidningen.
It was cold outside, and the child was sleeping in a guest house. The babysitters put on a wall-mounted element in the cottage, and also set up a passenger compartment heater on the floor.
The one-year-old was looked at a few times during the night. The babysitters listened outside the cottage and peeked in through the window, reports SVT Nyheter Jönköping.
But in the morning the child had died of heat stroke.
Now prosecutor Daniel Larsson has written a criminal injunction for causing another person’s death. He believes that the supervision of the one-year-old has not been sufficient. The punishment is proposed to be a conditional sentence.
– The debt issue has been investigated and the act acknowledged, it is therefore a sanction according to practice, says David Larsson to Smålands-Tidningen.
If the babysitters do not approve the punishment, the case is taken to court.
The child’s family has also demanded damages from the babysitters.
