Childminders used the “boring chair” to handle children at preschool in Eskilstuna

Eskilstuna municipality is currently investigating the incident.

– If we discover that methods are being used that are not based on proven experience and science, we will put an end to it, says Lina Axelsson Kihlblom, head of the children’s and education administration.

Work together

To avoid the staff using similar methods in the future, she believes that a key is to help each other.

– It is important to work collegially and that we have an increased number of well-trained preschool teachers in Eskilstuna municipality’s preschools. It is a way of quality assurance that the staff do not independently develop methods that are not based on science.

Lots of abuse reports

In the municipality of Eskilstuna, almost a hundred abuse reports are made within the preschool each year.

– It is mainly children who have violated other children and it is important that we receive reports so that we can investigate and take action. A few of the reports concern adults who have violated children and there always ring bells for us and we investigate and take measures as soon as we can ensure that a violation has been committed.
