What is the CMG Complement?
The CMG, which compensates for the cost of childcare, is part of the childcare benefit (Paje), which also includes the birth or adoption grant, the basic allowance and the shared education benefit for the PreParE child. You should know that the childcare supplement amount depends on certain conditions. In fact, it varies according to the number of children you have to support, the age of your children and your resources. Know that you also benefit from a tax credit as an employer of a childminder or a nanny for the care of your children.
What are the conditions for benefiting from the Childcare supplement?
- Nanny or childminder : The CAF pays additional childcare to parents with a professional activity who employ a nanny or an approved childminder for the care of their child. His gross salary must not exceed 52.40 euros per day and per child cared for.
- If you have recourse to an association or an authorized company which employs a maternal assistant or a person at home, you can benefit from this additional free choice of childcare if the child is cared for at least 16 hours a month.
- If you use a micro-nursery you can benefit from this free choice of childcare supplement if the child is looked after for at least 16 hours in the month and if the hourly rate applied is not more than 10 euros per child looked after.
- If you directly employ a childminder or live-in nanny, the Caf then covers part of your employee’s remuneration, which depends on your income, the number of children and their age. A minimum of 15% of the expense will remain your responsibility. Pajemploi pays you the Cmg remuneration.
Childcare supplement: what amounts in 2023?
The amount of monthly support depends on the age of the children and the number of dependent children, as well as your annual resources. In addition, the ceiling is calculated according to the categorical net income of 2021 for the year 2023. Discover the amount of ceilings not to be exceeded and the amount of the CMG depending on your situation. For example, for parents who directly hire a childminder or nanny and who are in a relationship:
I have a dependent child:
► Tranche 1: If my resources are less than or equal to 21,661 euros per year, the amount of the free choice of childcare supplement amounts to a maximum of 498.33 euros per month (for a child under three years old) and a maximum of 249.16 euros per month (between 3 and 6 years old).
► Tranche 2: If I receive between 21,662 euros and 48,135 euros per year, I receive a maximum of 314.24 euros per month (child under three years old), and a maximum of 157.15 euros per month (between 3 and 6 years old) .
► Tranche 3: If my income exceeds 48,135 euros per year, the maximum monthly amount will be 188.52 euros (less than three years) and a maximum of 94.26 euros (more than three years).
I have two dependent children:
► Tranche 1: Income of less than 24,735 euros: maximum 498.33 euros per month (less than three years) and maximum 249.16 euros (between 3 and 6 years).
► Tranche 2: Income must not exceed 54,968 euros. You can then receive 314.24 euros (for a child under 3 years old) and 157.15 euros if he is between 3 and 6 years old.
► Tranche 3: Income above 54,968 euros: amount of 188.52 euros (less than 3 years) and 94.26 euros (between 3 and 6 years).
I have three dependent children:
► Tranche 1: Income of less than 27,809 euros: amount of the CMG: 498.33 euros per month (less than three years) and 249.16 euros (between 3 and 6 years).
► Tranche 2: for income not exceeding 61,801 euros, the amount of the CMG is 314.24 for children under three years old and 157.15 euros for children aged 3 to 6 years old
► Bracket 3: Income above 61,801 euros: 188.526 euros (less than 3 years) and 94.26 euros (between 3 and 6 years).
More than three children
Regarding the resource ceiling, we add 3074 euros per child (for tranche 1) and 6833 euros per child for tranches 2 and 3. The amount of the CMG therefore depends on the tranche to which your resource ceiling corresponds.
Up to what age can one benefit from the CMG?
To benefit from the free choice of childcare supplement, your child must be under 6 years old. In addition, if you call on an organization and a childminder or nanny takes care of your little one, it must be entrusted to them at least 16 hours per month. Same thing if you have recourse to a micro-nursery (at least 16 hours per month). On the other hand, there is no imposed duration if you directly hire the person of your choice.
What are the steps to benefit from the CMG with Pajemploi?
To can benefit from the supplement of free choice of the mode of childcare of the Paje, make your request to your Caf, during the month of hiring your employee. Upon receipt of your file, the Caf will inform the Pajemploi center of the presence of your employee, and you will then only have to declare his remuneration every month. It is recommended that you send your CMG application to the Caf as soon as your employee is hired, including the trial or adaptation period. If you delay, you risk not getting all the help to which you are entitled.
The Pajemploi center calculates the contributions paid by the CAF and tells you the part that remains your responsibility. For example, social security contributions are 100% for the employment of an approved childminder and 50% for the employment of a home care worker. The maximum amount of this support is 464 euros for children aged 0-3 years and 232 euros for children aged 3-6 years. Finally, the employment certificate, which is equivalent to the payslip, is sent directly to the employee.
