    While the very first Interministerial Council for Children has just been held in Matignon, on November 21, on the sidelines of the week dedicated to the rights of the child, the government is announcing a series of projects and several objectives. With one thing in common: acting for children.

    Three ambitious goals. These are the lines of work that the government is launching to improve the rights of children, at the end of the dedicated week, which was held from November 14 to 20.

    “Combating violence against children”

    For this, the government announces the creation of a Central Office for the fight against violence against children. “This Office aims to contribute to the detection of violence against minors, to ensure the repression of this violence, in particular by coordinating the action of the police and the gendarmerie, and to contribute to its prevention. says the government.

    This office, which will have 70 people, will be responsible for combating online pedocrime, sexual violence committed against minors, serious violence committed against minors, as well as monitoring the Abduction Alert plan when it is activated.

    The second priority project concerns the fight against violence against children. A fight that will revolve around five axes:

    • Promote the identification of child victims;
    • Dealing with violence as a priority;
    • Advocate a firm penal policy;
    • Increase vigilance on the Internet to better fight against the prostitution of minors, child pornography and bullying at school;
    • Sharing information on the fight against violence against minors, both within the courts and with other administrations.

    “Ensuring equal opportunities”

    For this other priority project of the government, the ambition is to support children with disabilities. In particular, this will involve “strengthening the identification of disabilities from an early age throughout the territory, increasing the resources of the medico-social services in charge of supporting children at home, bringing together medico-social professionals from the school to promote the inclusion of all children in school and the facilitation of access to care for children with multiple disabilities or cerebral palsy”.

    In addition, the State also undertakes to work towards better coordination of child protection actors and announces the launch of a “consultation on the establishment of a public service for early childhood”.

    “Acting for the development and future of all children”

    Finally, the government is betting on the future by wanting to “enhance the development of all children”. It therefore confirms the launch of the Assises de la Pédiatrie, already mentioned by François Braun. “The consultations will be launched in November 2022 and the work will continue until the Assises, scheduled for spring 2023” says the government.

    The two other priority projects of this axis relate to the “reduction of health inequalities” and the creation of a “Laboratory dedicated to protecting children in the digital field and supporting parents“.
