  • Australia wants age limit for social media

    The Australian government plans to introduce an age limit for the use of social media, writes The Guardian.

    “We know that technology is developing quickly,” the country’s Prime Minister Albert Albanese said on Monday. “No government can protect every child from every threat – but we must do everything we can. […] No generation has faced this challenge before”.

    The government does not specify from what age they want to draw the line, but is awaiting an investigation in the area.

    With the proposal, social media platforms could be required to prevent children under a certain age from accessing their services.

    The issue has been debated in Australian politics recently, and in previous reports written on the subject, age limits around 14 and 15 have been raised.

    The bill is expected to be tabled in parliament before the next election.

    The police were alerted to an address in Västberga in Stockholm on Monday evening.

    – It is a person who calls the police when you see a woman running out of an address and calling for help when she is being chased by a man. The caller remains with the woman until the police patrol arrives, says Rebecca Landberg, at the police command center in the Stockholm region.

    According to the police, the woman must have been at an address together with a man who threatened her with a knife and robbed her of money.

    No one has been arrested and the incident is classified as aggravated robbery. The woman is said to have received no physical injuries.

    Several prominent Republicans, including Trump’s running mate JD Vance, are spreading false rumors that Haitian migrants in Ohio are killing and eating pets, writes CNN.

    “Reports are now showing that people have had their pets abducted and eaten by people who should not be in this country,” Vance said in a video he posted on X on Monday.

    Republican Sen. Ted Cruz also shared a meme on Monday that read: “Vote for Trump so Haitian immigrants don’t eat us.”

    The false claims originated in a local Facebook group for the city of Springfield, Illinois, and quickly spread to conservative media outlets and high-ranking Republicans. The municipality has denied that there are any credible reports of injured pets.

    A gang leader in the Danish-Swedish gang conflict has been arrested in Dubai, reports SVT Nyheter. According to SVT, he is allied with the internationally wanted Swedish gang leader Ismail Abdo and is described as the Swede’s “right hand”.

    The ongoing gang conflict in Denmark has been between the Danish criminal network Loyal to Familia and an unnamed criminal network. Ismail Abdo has been linked to the ongoing conflict which has resulted in several Swedish teenagers traveling to Denmark to commit various violent crimes.

    On Monday evening, a person on a bicycle was hit by a motorist who had left the scene in Mantorp.

    The injured cyclist was found by a person who alerted SOS.

    The person was rushed to hospital and has not been able to be heard about the incident.

  • Water leak at Hisingen – bus service cancelled

    A water leak has occurred at Hisingen in Gothenburg, according to P4 Gothenburg.

    Due to the water leak, several bus lines are withdrawn during Tuesday morning.

  • Convicted Foxtrotman wanted – failed to appear at facility

    In the district court, the 20-year-old was acquitted of murder plans, but the appeals court changed the decision. Instead, the man was sentenced to prison for three years and nine months for drug offences, robbery and aiding and abetting murder.

    But the man was at large even though the prosecutor wanted the court to arrest him. Now he is wanted as he did not turn up at the prison, writes Expressen. The 20-year-old was due to start serving his sentence last week but failed to appear.

    The man is convicted of murder plans against a man who had stolen a batch of cannabis from Foxtrot.

    According to the investigation, the man must have said, among other things, that he received the assignment from the internationally wanted gang leader Rawa Majid and that he would receive 200,000 kroner for the assignment.

  • UN convoy in Gaza stopped at gunpoint

    The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, said one of its convoys in Gaza was stopped by the Israeli military on Monday.

    This despite the fact that the convoy had coordinated with the military in advance.

    According to Unrwa chief Philippe Lazzarini, the staff arrested were working on the ongoing polio vaccination of children in northern Gaza and Gaza City. They were then detained for over eight hours by the military before being released.

    “The convoy was stopped at gunpoint just after the Wadi Gaza checkpoint, with threats to detain UN personnel,” Lazzarini writes on X, adding that the UN vehicles in which the personnel were traveling were badly damaged by bulldozers.

  • Russia: Shot down more than 70 drones

    Russia has shot down more than 70 Ukrainian drones overnight Tuesday, local authorities and state media said.

    In the region of Bryansk, which borders Ukraine, 59 drones were shot down, according to Governor Aleksander Bogomaz.

    “There are no casualties or material damage,” he writes on Telegram.

    Twelve drones were also shot down in the region around Moscow, the capital’s mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Telegram, and another couple in the Tula region south of Moscow. Three airports near Moscow canceled their flights after the attack.
