An infant died after a midwife did not follow guidelines for induction of labour. Now the hospital is making a lex Maria notification, reports P4 West.
According to routine, women should be offered initiation in the 41st week of pregnancy, but last December a pregnant woman in Trollhättan refused it. She had previously agreed, but changed her mind after a conversation with a midwife.
When the child was born a few days later, it was limp and lifeless, and died two weeks later. The cause of death is unclear.
The parents later stated that they felt forced to make a decision that they did not really want to make, after the meeting with the midwife. The hospital has now registered itself according to lex Maria.
