Chief physician at Akademiska hospital detained in bribery

It was during 2019 that the University Hospital purchased an X-ray machine from Canon medical systems. In connection with this business, the company must have paid SEK 200,000 to the 64-year-old man, chief physician and operations manager at the hospital.

The deal is supposed to be part of an extensive bribery scheme in which four companies are involved, including Canon medical systems and Siemens. According to Aftonbladet, the 64-year-old man should have received a total of SEK 4.1 million into his private account.

The man has now been arrested by the police and is in custody for several serious bribery offences.

SVT Uppsala is currently looking for a prosecutor and a lawyer.
