Thermal efficiency, one of the most critical measurements of an engine, reaches its peak in the latest PHEV engine from the QPower brand. The QPower platform, which has been developed with significant improvements, sets a new standard in the industry with an effective thermal efficiency of up to 44.5 percent. Chery continues to improve engine performance with its commitment to innovation and technical excellence.
In this context, the high-swirl combustion system designed with the PHEV engine’s high-swirl ratio and high-density turbulent combustion system provides stable combustion at an EGR ratio of 27 percent. The brand promises smooth and efficient engine performance at high compression ratios by effectively managing the temperature of the combustion chamber walls and piston tops and controlling piston compression ratio changes to solve the detonation problem associated with high compression ratios.
In addition, Chery has implemented an innovative pre-catalyst gas recirculation technique to address the low-pressure EGR system pressure difference margin deficiencies, achieving an industry-leading EGR ratio of over 27 percent. This breakthrough not only optimizes combustion efficiency, but also significantly reduces emissions. In addition, the intelligent thermal management system enhances precise thermal control, further improving engine efficiency and durability.
Chery adheres to the approach of technological innovation and superior quality in the design and production of this new PHEV engine. The brand has achieved an engine weight of only 105 kilograms by implementing numerous lightweight technology solutions. This sets a new standard for the industry. Focusing on a solid and durable engine in every aspect, Chery has conducted comprehensive verification tests on the entire engine, powertrain, and vehicle to maximize engine stability and reliability.
These tests include over 100 engine device tests with a total of over 20,000 hours and full vehicle verification of 5 models with approximately 100 vehicles and cumulative mileage of over 3 million kilometers. These comprehensive tests conducted by the brand over long periods and distances comprehensively verify the reliability and durability of the engine under various complex conditions.
It is particularly noteworthy that Chery uses online measurement technology of mechanical phase deviation to adjust the angles for each vehicle with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) technology to ensure consistency in the performance of each engine.
In addition, the engine undergoes intensive testing under the most difficult conditions, including high temperature, extreme cold and high altitude, to ensure reliability and adaptability in harsh environments. All these rigorous tests confirm the vehicle’s ability to operate stably under different conditions.
Chery test team conducted special tests for heating, defrosting, defogging, cold start and low temperature compatibility, as well as comprehensive dynamic examination of the entire vehicle. All these evaluations allow users to experience reliable and stable driving performance in harsh environments. In addition, the team also conducted complex adaptation tests under different driving conditions to ensure consistent vehicle performance for consumers on road conditions around the world.
“The significant increase in thermal efficiency of the latest PHEV engine of the QPower brand represents Chery’s continued exploration and innovation in the new energy field. It not only highlights Chery’s expertise in core technologies and innovative solutions, but also promises high satisfaction among global consumers, ushering in a new era of environmentally friendly transportation.”
