Chelsea, who plays in the English Premier League, says in a statement that the American Todd Boehlyn led by a group buying a football club. Boehly is a co-owner of the American baseball club LA Dodgers.

The contract is worth £ 4.25 billion, or about € 4.97 billion. £ 2.5bn will be spent on team shares and £ 1.75bn will be invested in the club. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of May. According to the British newspaper Guardian, the sale requires the approval of the Premier League and the British administration.

The British government has previously imposed on the owner of Chelsea, the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich economic sanctions following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In addition, his funds have been frozen. Due to the actions, Abramovich had to put the club up for sale.

The club says the proceeds from the purchase of the shares will be transferred to a frozen UK bank account. According to the club, Abramovich has confirmed that the intention is to donate all funds to charity. Approval from the British administration is needed to move the funds forward.

Abramovich is said to have acquired the President of Russia in 2003 from the London Society Vladimir Putin order, but Abramovich has denied the allegation.

The London club has become one of England’s most successful teams during Abramovich’s tenure.
