One of Britain’s most famous dairies Neal’s Yard Dairy has become the victim of a very unusual theft and got rid of roughly 24 tons of cheese worth what corresponds to SEK 4.2 million, reports CNN.

Buyer claimed to be a serious wholesaler
The dairy giant sells top quality British and Irish cheeses to shops and restaurants around the world. The cheeses, which are now missing, came from three different producers and were stolen by a customer who claimed to be a legitimate wholesaler.
In connection with the theft, the London-based dairy took to its Instagram and informed its customers about the theft while appealing for help from customers and followers.

The celebrity chef Jamie Oliver he also appealed to his millions of followers on Instagram to be aware of strange sellers of similar cheese with a cheap price tag. In Oliver’s own words, the stolen cheese is “one of the best in the world” and says the theft “is a shame”.

Police have made an arrest
A week after the theft, Neal’s Yard Dairy updated that police had made an arrest in the search for the perpetrators after cooperating with authorities in hopes of finding the perpetrators.
“Update: On 30 October we learned that the Metropolitan Police made an arrest in connection with the theft. We are grateful for the progress they have made, and we will continue to support their investigation in any way we can”
