Kenyan Beatrice Chebet was the first woman to break the 14-minute mark in a five-kilometer street run. Chebet ran an ME time of 13:54 in Barcelona.

The previous ME time was also in Chebet’s name, when he ran in the same competition last year with a time of 14:13. The women have not broken the 14-minute mark in the 5,000-meter track run either. Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegayn last year’s ME is 14.00,21.

Finland Nina Chydenius was tenth in the Barcelona race. Annemari Sandellin Chydenius, who set out to chase SE in the five-kilometer road race at 3:13 p.m., finally stopped the clock at 3:45 p.m.

– The Finnish record was an idea. It is by no means impossible. Now it fell far behind when I started too hard. I wish I had calmed down at the beginning, Chydenius stated in the press release.
