Cheaters of a popular shooter take it to the next level, manipulating screens and making you see chickens

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Cheaters can now affect what players see in the popular shooter Rainbow Six: Siege, featuring giant chickens on player screens.

What are the cheaters doing? Curious video clips are currently circulating in the community of Ubisoft’s popular tactical shooter Rainbow Six: Siege. Cheaters have managed to access the game’s ban log and use it to project images onto players’ screens.

With the ban log, the game indicates a ban wave. The IDs of players who were banned during the current ban wave are displayed there.

One of the first videos to go around with the curious cheat came from Twitch streamer and YouTuber Athieno. He was about to strike down his opponent when the giant image of a chicken appeared on his screen, blocking his view and he lost the shootout.

The streamer also shared the clip on Twitter. We show you the corresponding post here:

However, not only pictures of chickens are shown. The cheaters can probably decide freely what they want to see. A player on reddit shared a thankfully censored video of what appears to be a penis projected onto the screen.

The German e-sportsman and twitch streamer Levolution was also hit. He was shown an image showing the layout of cheat software. This clip can also be seen on Twitter:

Chicken pic even sabotages pro match

Who can it hit? In principle, it can catch anyone. You don’t even have to be in the same round with a cheater for them to display an image on your screen.

For example, the professional match between the Astralis and Oxygen Esports esports teams was affected. This was broadcast on twitch channel “NerdStreetR6,” when viewers saw a giant chicken instead of Oxygen player Nuerss’ visor (via Twitter).

What is the risk for affected players? Of course, if you suddenly can’t see anything, it’s very likely that you’ll lose your gunfight. However, that is the comparatively lesser evil of the cheat, which still seems quite funny with a chicken.

It is also possible that indecent or even disturbing images are displayed. There is also a separate danger for Twitch streamers, since certain content may not be shown during a live stream and its transmission can lead to a ban.

How can you protect yourself? According to some players, if you don’t feel like chicken pictures or worse, you can protect yourself with a simple setting. All you have to do is switch off the “Bans” option in the settings under “HUD” in the match information.

You can then no longer see which players are currently banned, but you are protected from an unwanted image on your screen. Nevertheless, it is clear that with this cheat the cheats in Rainbow Six: Siege have reached a new level. And that, although speculation in November spoke of a secret, new strategy of the shooter against cheaters.
