Chatham youth charged with arson

A Chatham youth is charged with arson after a residential fire last weekend, police say.

Emergency crews responded to a fire on Wellington Street in Chatham about 3:24 am Sept. 16, at approximately 3:24 am, Chatham-Kent police said Friday. No one was home and no injuries were reported.

A suspect was arrested Thursday, police said.

A Chatham male, 16, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with Arson. He was held pending a bail hearing.

Man charged after landlord-tenant dispute

A Chatham resident is charged after a landlord-tenant dispute, police say.

Officers called to a Grand Avenue West address learned an argument began when a recently evicted tenant tried to retrieve items, police said. A man tried lunge at building employees.

A Chatham man, 38, faces one count of assault. He was released with conditions and a short date.
