Chatham woman charged in coffee throwing incident

A 39-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and taken into custody after Chatham-Kent police responded to reports of a disturbance on King Street in Chatham Wednesday morning.

Police said the accused went to an address on King Street and allegedly threw a cup of coffee at another woman.

Officers arrived and, while placing the woman under arrest, she allegedly resisted, police said.

The accused was charged with assault and resisting a peace officer. She was taken to police headquarters and held in custody pending a bail hearing, police said.

Call from brace monitoring service leads to Chatham man’s arrest

A Chatham man learned the hard way the monitoring device he’s required to wear as part of his conditional sentence works well.

Chatham-Kent police said a phone call was received early Thursday morning from a brace monitoring service that claimed the man was outside of his residence, which was a breach of his conditional sentence order.

Police arrived and he was arrested and transported to police headquarters and held in custody pending a bail hearing, police said.

Men arrested on separate warrants

Chatham-Kent police rounded up three men wanted on separate warrants over the past few days.

Wednesday afternoon during a traffic stop on Elgin Street in Wallaceburg, police located a 34-year-old Wallaceburg man wanted on a warrant for failing to attend court, police said.

He was arrested and taken to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Police found a 24-year-old Hamilton man wanted on a warrant for domestic-related offenses while responding to a well-being complaint Wednesday night on Jeffery Street in Chatham.

Police said the accused was also wanted on a warrant in Hamilton.

He was arrested for all the warrants and turned over to the Hamilton Police Service on their arrival Wednesday night, police said.

Thursday afternoon, police caught up to a 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man wanted on a warrant for failing to attend to provide a DNA sample, which was a condition when he was released by the court in early November.

The accused was found on Victoria Avenue in Chatham at 11:19 am Thursday, arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was later released.
