Admitting he couldn’t believe his eyes, a Chatham man is $100,000 richer after his recent win playing Encore.
Marcel Parker matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in order in the July 14 Lotto Max draw.
It was his first big win, and he had a chance to attend the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. (OLG) prize center in Toronto.
Parker, a 59-year-old father, said he’s been playing the lottery every Friday for a long time. He occasionally plays instant tickets, but is loyal to Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 and always plays Encore, an OLG release said.
The truck driver got home from work early one morning and decided to check his ticket on the OLG app.
“I didn’t have my glasses on when I scanned it,” he said. “I was shocked to discover I’d won.”
Parker woke up his wife to tell her the big news.
“I was shaking from excitement,” he recalled. “Neither of us could believe it when OLG emailed me to confirm the win.”
With his winnings, Parker plans to complete a few home renovations, share with his family, and enjoy the rest, he said. “I want to get a quad bike and go off-roading.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Ken’s Variety on Vanier Drive in Chatham.
