Man charged with domestic offenses

A 38-year-old Chatham man faces charges after a woman told officers she was assaulted, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers were called to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Sunday afternoon, where a woman told them she was seeking treatment for injuries after an assault earlier in the day, police said. Officers also learned of prior alleged assaults.

A suspect was arrested on Oxley Drive in Chatham just before 8pm Sunday, police said.

A man is charged with uttering threats, assault and three counts of assault causing bodily harm, police said. He was held pending a bail hearing.

Chatham man charged with assault

A 24-year-old Chatham man faces an assault charge after Chatham-Kent police were called to a disturbance at a Chatham home late Sunday afternoon.

A man punched the occupant of a Park Street home in the face and head several times after an argument, causing minor physical injuries, police said.

The accused was charged and later released with conditions and April 3 court date, police said.

Chatham man charged with theft

A 25-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged after a theft from a Chatham store, police say.

Officers were called to a Wellington Street West store Sunday afternoon after a man took merchandise from shelves and tried to leave without paying, Chatham-Kent police said.

Investigation revealed the suspect was wanted on four outstanding warrants, police said.

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.
