Chatham man charged with child luring offenses

In October of last year, the Chatham-Kent police internet child exploitation unit received a complaint of a male allegedly attempting to solicit explicit images from a teenage female through fake social media accounts.

He was believed that the suspect resided in Chatham-Kent due to his knowledge of the area. Through various investigative techniques, he was identified and arrested, police said in a release Sunday.

The 40-year-old Chatham man was arrested last week and charged with luring a child to make child pornography and luring a child to commit sexual interference.

He was transported to police headquarters and later released with multiple conditions and a short date.

Police said no further information will be released to protect the victim’s identity as the investigation is ongoing.
