Chatham Kents Malayalee community holds gathering

Chatham-Kent’s Malayalee community recently gathered to celebrate the new year and Christmas.

The event on Jan. 21 was held at the Kent Belgian Dutch Canadian Club. Nissam Madathil, a member of the organizing committee, said over 100 Malayalee families living in Chatham-Kent attended.

“As our community is continuously growing here in Chatham, we will be planning year-round programs,” Madathil said in an email.

The Malayalee people come from the state of Kerala in India and speak Malayalam.
