A Chatham-Kent youth is accused of bringing a weapon to a classroom, says Leamington OPP.
OPP investigated an alleged weapons occurrence in Leamington on Thursday, which led to the 17-year-old being arrested on Friday.
OPP said officers received information about a video that was circulating of a student with what is suspected to be a firearm in a classroom.
Officers met with school staff and officials to identify the involved parties and ensure the safety of staff and students while the investigation was conducted, OPP said.
The accused was arrested prior to attending school on Friday and charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief under $5,000, OPP said.
The youth was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Windsor court later to answer the charges, OPP said.
No injuries were reported as a result of this incident and the OPP said there are not further safety concerns.
