The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has received $442,042 from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for hosting Cascades Casino Chatham.

The money is the first quarter payment from April 1 to June 30. Chatham-Kent has received $18,241,507 in hosting fees since a gaming site opened in the municipality in April 2001.
The payments to host communities are based on a formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement that is consistently applied across all land-based casino sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site, said an OLG media release.
“Investing OLG’s profits back into host government communities is another example of our continued efforts to strengthen local infrastructure and community programs,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming in the release.
“We remain focused on working with our municipal partners to ensure that communities across Ontario have the supports in place to empower their residents to lead active, fulfilling lives and enable local businesses to thrive,” he added.

Since 1994, host communities have received more than $2.1 billion in non-tax gaming revenue, the release said.
The OLG said it is proud to share proceeds of casino gaming with local communities, contributing to economic development including infrastructure and job creation. Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario, which includes reinvesting 100 per cent of OLG’s profits back into the province, the OLG added.
Since 2017, casino service providers have invested more than $2.2 billion in private sector capital across the province, the OLG said. These investments have led to the development and opening of seven new casinos, one planned development and numerous casino expansions and non-gaming amenities.
