So far, during Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp.’s fiscal year, which runs April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, Chatham-Kent has received a total of $881,071.
Since 2001, which includes the time it hosted the former Dresden slots prior to the casino’s 2019 opening, Chatham-Kent has received $18.68 million.
Payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all Ontario gaming sites, using a graduated scale of gaming revenue, OLG said in a recent release.
“Land-based casinos serve as a source of good local jobs and generate important economic activity in municipalities that host gaming sites,” said MPP Trevor Jones (PC-Chatham-Kent—Leamington).
“Proceeds from gaming received through the municipality contribution agreement with OLG, in turn, help strengthen local infrastructure and support community programs.”

Since 1994, Ontario host communities have received more than $2.1 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
OLG is “proud to share proceeds of casino gaming with local communities, contributing to economic development including infrastructure and job creation,” the release said. “Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario, which includes reinvesting 100 per cent of OLG’s profits back into the province.”
Over the last eight years, service providers have invested more than $2.2 billion in private-sector capital investment across the province, the corporation added.
Since 2016, these investments have led to the development and opening of seven new casinos, one planned development and additional gaming expansions and non-gaming amenities.
