Chatham-Kent police used a drone to track down three theft suspects in Tilbury.

Officers arrived just after 12 am Monday to the area of ​​Oak Road to investigate a report of suspicious activity involving a vehicle and three people with flashlights, police said.

A U-Haul vehicle loaded with property was found, but the suspects had fled, police said.

A drone was deployed and three suspects were located hiding near a retaining pond, police said.

A 26 year-old woman from Blenheim, and two Tilbury men, aged 58 and 33, were charged with trespassing by night, police said. Following further investigation police said the three accused were also charged with theft and possession under $5,000.

Single-vehicle crash leads to impaired charge

A single-vehicle crash Sunday resulted in a man facing an impaired driving charge.

Police responded to a crash at the intersection of Erieau Road and Middle Line around 4:20 p.m.

The driver was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where breath tests samples showed the driver’s blood-alcohol level was more than double the legal limit, police said.

A man was charged with impaired driving. His case returns to court Feb. 12.
