On Tuesday around noon, Peel Regional Police received a report of man seen striking a woman and forcing her into a vehicle before leaving the area of Mississauga Road and Meadowvale Boulevard in Mississauga, Peel police said.
On Wednesday, at 4:46 pm Chatham-Kent police received information from Peel police of a possible abduction.
It was believed the suspect was in the north end of Chatham, said Chatham-Kent police.
Thanks to detailed information provided by Peel police, local officers located the suspect vehicle on St. Clair Street, police said.
“As officers initiated a traffic stop, the vehicle accelerated southbound on St. Clair Street at a high rate of speed, disregarding traffic signals,” police said.

The vehicle crashed at the intersection of Grand Avenue West and St. Clair Street, just after 6:30 pm, but continued west on Grand Avenue until mechanical issues stopped the vehicle, police said.
The driver left the vehicle and fled on foot, but was located and arrested.
A 48-year-old Kitchener man is charged with theft from a police officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for an accident.
He was held pending a bail hearing.
The woman involved in the incident was located in good health, Peel police said.
London man charged with manslaughter after prior police raid
A 27-year-old London man has been charged with manslaughter following an investigation into other crimes in West Elgin, Ontario Provincial Police said on Friday.

The accused taken into custody Aug. 23 on previous charges, police said.
The investigation began that same day after a search of a home in West Elgin by officers from the OPP’s Elgin-Middlesex community street crime unit, the Elgin County OPP’s crime unit and the Western region OPP tactics/rescue and emergency response teams.
Police said little else, including what the previous charges involved, citing a publication ban.
Edgar Marshall has been “further charged” with manslaughter, police said Friday.
The investigation was continuing with help from the OPP’s forensic identification unit and the coroner’s office, police said.
