Chatham Kent hospice returns gala Oct 20

The Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation’s benefit gala is set to return Oct. 20.

Taking place at The Armory in Chatham, the annual event raises money for the 10-bed facility that offers end-of-life care and support for local families.

The formal evening will feature a gourmet meal prepared by The Chilled Cork, as well as a chance to bid on a variety of experiences in a live and silent auction.

“Gala is a chance for all of us to come together and celebrate the amazing work being done at our hospice day in and day out,” said Ginny Hawken, who chairs the event.

“We get to share, remember our loved ones and ensure hospice continues to operate at no cost to local families in their time of need.”

Supporters will also have the chance to win a half-carat diamond from Ridgetown’s Mitton’s Jewelers.

A portion of the evening will feature a local family who has used the services of the local hospice, as they share their story.

The evening will conclude with an after-party and DJ for those who wish to stay.

Now in its sixth year, the gala has raised more than $332,000 for the hospice, including $98,000 last year.

Victory Lincoln is again the title sponsor for the gala. Victory has been a lead sponsor since the event’s inception.

“The support from our business community and Chatham-Kent residents has been nothing short of extraordinary,” Hawken said.

“Hospice is such a special service to our community and makes a huge difference for families and caretakers each and every day. Our sponsors and donors make it all possible.”

The hospice has cared for more than 1,200 local families to date. This also includes care co-ordination, as well as grief and bereavement support.

About 62 percent of the operating budget is covered by donations.

Tickets are limited and available for $175 per person, including a $50 tax receipt. To purchase, call 519-354-3113 ext. 2300 gold visits https://www.chathamkenthospice.com/hospicebenefitgala/
