One of Sweden’s greatest winter athletes ever makes a comeback.
Charlotte Kalla will compete – already this spring.
– I’m so longing, reveals the icon in the “Winter pass” podcast.
Two years have passed since Charlotte Kalla, one of Sweden’s best skiers of all time, announced that her career was over. Kalla had struggled with the results for a couple of years, but could still look back on a career that few in skiing history can top.
Called happy news
In total, there were three World Cup gold medals and a whopping nine (!) Olympic medals for Kalla, who will go down in history as one of Sweden’s truly great winter athletes. Since leaving the skis, Kalla has become a mother, but during the winter, she posted several pictures on social media when she was on the ski slopes. And she has, in the podcast “VInterpasset”, hinted at a possible return.
And in today’s episode of the podcast, which she has together with Hanna and Elvira Öberg, and Jonna Sundling, she reveals that the number plate will go on – as early as March 1.
– It is actually the case that the number plate will be used this season, says Charlotte Kalla.
“I can not wait”
The big comeback will be during Vasalopps week, when she will run the first relay distance over 24 kilometers for her team.
– It is the first time. I’ve never gone to a race during the Vasalopps week, so it’s a first to feel the atmosphere and I’m looking forward to it, says Kalla.
Kalla is not exactly the only profile in his team. The former alpine skiers Hans Olsson and Maria Pietilä-Holmner, as well as the Olympic gold medalist in humps Walter Wallberg, and the freeski star Jesper Tjäder will also participate there. However, Charlotte Kalla beats back any possible hopes for a “real” comeback.
– I am a complete exerciser, she says.
