Charlotte Kalla’s shock after Jonna Sundling’s “forbidden” gesture towards the rival – doesn’t understand anything: “I get annoyed”

Jonna Sundling did the forbidden to Jessie Diggins.
It makes skiing icon Charlotte Kalla drop her chin completely.
– I get irritated, Sundling now admits in “Vinterpasset”.

The ski weekend offered the big revenge for Jonna Sundling. After having her season hampered by illness, she was able to really show her full talent on the ski slopes again.

Sundling’s gesture

During the World Cup competition in Minneapolis, the Swede first won the sprint and then also the 10 km, which was Jonna’s very first World Cup victory in a distance race. But after the feat, she happened to do the forbidden after the finish line.

Sundling approached the American rival Jessie Diggins and broke an unwritten rule in the skiing world. No one is allowed to touch Diggins when she is lying down catching her breath after a race.

Cold in shock

Which is exactly what the Swede did when she helped her off with the skis.
– It was apparently an unwritten rule that no one knew about. Nobody seems to have known that, says Sundling in the podcast “Winter Pass”.

Diggins previously wrote in a high-profile 2018 blog post that no one is allowed to touch her for the first 30 seconds after a race. But not even Charlotte Kallawho met the American many times, knew about this and is shocked by what happened.
– I didn’t know about that either! exclaims the legend in the podcast.

Jonna Sundling also admits that there were many in the Swedish national ski team who had no idea about this.
– I didn’t know about it either. I was kind of annoyed; Why did I even get asked that question? she says in the podcast and she can understand Diggins’ wishes.
– That’s how I really feel when you can’t move and are completely exhausted. She had apparently written it down somewhere. I haven’t been to many distance races… Surely no one else knew either? I thought I’d say congratulations, because that’s pretty cool, right? I had also thought it was nice to take my skis off.
