Charlotte Kalla is forced to cancel “Master of Champions”.
It is because of a rib injury that she is forced to decline.
Now the Swedish skiing star reveals what actually happened when she injured herself – during another TV recording actually.
In the spring, the skiing veteran finished Charlotte Kalla his long and successful career as a cross-country skier. She has long belonged to the top of the world and has been able to crown her career with above all 3 Olympic golds and 3 WC golds.

Now a completely new life awaits the 35-year-old as a “retiree” and she is already looking for new challenges in everyday life. The very first was supposed to be the SVT competition program “Mästarnas Mästare”, but there Kalla has been forced to decline even before the recordings started.
On Tuesday, the news came that the skiing legend is stopped from competing due to a rib injury.
– I’m still in too much pain to be able to go down to the Masters of the Masters and not risk dragging out the injury I have. The rib is clearly speaking out and I have to accept that, no matter how much I wanted to be part of the gang in Montenegro. I wish them all the best of luck and I will come back another year injury-free, says Charlotte Kalla in an official press release.
“I fell off”
After that announcement, Kalla opened up and told the whole truth about why she misses the fall television recording of the SVT program. It is actually because of another television recording that she injured herself.
“I fell off a banana boat during the filming of ‘Renées Brygga’ 2.5 weeks ago”, announces Kalla in a text message to SportExpressen.
“I only rode a test bike until Saturday so that the healing process could work undisturbed. Last Saturday I ran two 4-minute intervals to test how resistant the rib was”.
It was after that test that Kalla felt she had to throw in the towel.
– When Charlotte Kalla injured her rib, she and we too thought that a number of days’ rest would be enough. But when she tested her capacity before departure, it turned out that she was in too much pain, says the SVT producer Clara Mannheimer in the press release.
The replacement for Charlotte Kalla will instead be another cross-country skier in the three-time Vasaloppet champion Jorgen Brink. Also the alpine icon Anja Pärson has previously been forced to turn down the Master of Masters.
