But today, none of them remain in cross-country skiing.
Now Charlotte Kalla opens up about Stina Nilsson’s career as a biathlete.

2019 stood Charlotte Kalla and Stina Nilsson on top of the skiing world after just winning World Cup gold in the relay in Seefeld. But it would also be the very last championship medal that both Charlotte and Stina won in cross-country skiing.

Called career

For Kalla, the successful skiing career ended in 2022 and even if the last years were medalless, the Swedish star skier could sum up an incredible track record. Three Olympic golds, three WC medals, a total of 37 SM golds and a total of 22 major championship medals.

For Nilsson, it was a completely different career choice when one of the world’s best sprinters chose to change sports completely and start competing in biathlon instead. Now the Swede has just finished her third season in the new sport and it has been the hardest so far.

Stina’s season

When many thought that the 29-year-old would seriously take up the fight with the absolute world elite, it turned out to be a really brave season in the World Cup. Stina had to fight hard with both skiing and shooting and after weak results she was kicked from both the World Cup and also the Biathlon World Championships.

Instead, had to go back to competing in the IBU Cup, the level below the World Cup, and criticism has not been kind during the tough season. Now former teammate Charlotte Kalla opens up about Stina Nilsson’s career as biathlete.
– I think Stina is incredibly brave. She really follows her heart and knows that in order to be fully passionate about something, you have to find it fun. There she has found her challenge, says Kalla to Sportbibeln.
– So impressed by her.
