Charlotte Kalla’s first words – after Peter Settman’s strong apology to her: “It’s right…”

Peter Settman apologized to Charlotte Kalla for the kiss at the 2008 Sports Gala.
Now the former cross-country skier answers.
– It doesn’t take away from the experience, says Kalla to Nettavisen.

In his autobiography “Shame on those who give” he shares Charlotte Kalla with him about several unknown details and stories from growing up and the successful cross-country skiing career. Since the book was released on Tuesday, it has made many headlines, mainly in Sweden but also in Norway.

Settman’s apology

The biggest headline has been Kalla’s criticism of Peter Settman for what happened during the Sports Gala in 2008. Namely that the then 39-year-old Settman suddenly came forward and kissed the then 21-year-old Kalla on the mouth.
“What I was involved in live in front of an audience of millions felt outrageous and reprehensible,” writes the former cross-country skier, among other things.

The event was the conclusion of Settman’s sketch where he stepped into his old classic role as “Ronny” from “Ronny and Ragge”. However, the kiss was improvisation on the part of the presenter.

After Kalla’s criticism was noticed, Settman publicly apologized. He also says he wouldn’t do the same thing again.
– It’s very sad to hear that she felt that way, because that was absolutely not the intention. I almost only get feelings of unease. That certainly did not land well, says Settman to SVT.

Called response

For Nettavisen, Kalla elaborates on what she wrote in the book.
– I was completely unprepared. He grabbed me and kissed me. I was shocked and a thousand thoughts ran through my head. Most people expected me to laugh it off, but I ended up feeling like I’d done something embarrassing to myself.

Kalla continues:
– Today it would never have happened, but that doesn’t take away from the experience, she tells the Norwegian newspaper.

The 36-year-old also confirms that Settman’s apology has reached her.
– It is right and proper to receive an apology. I forgive him, says Kalla.
