On Friday morning surprised Charlotte Kalla the entire skiing world by announcing that she is pregnant and about to become a mother for the first time. The congratulations have been pouring in ever since and Peter Northug also joked.

But in the midst of her pregnancy happiness, the Swedish skiing legend has also managed to follow Sweden’s progress during the ski WC in Planica. For the first time in a long time, Kalla himself is not with the national team at a major championship, but has to follow all the drama at home from the TV sofa.

The 35-year-old chose to end his long skiing career last year and now gets to cheer from a distance. It was also a blue-yellow dream start to the WC 2023 when Sweden took a phenomenal triple in the sprint.

The Norwegians were completely without a chance when Jonna Sundling won WC gold, Emma Ribom took the WC silver and Maja Dahlqvist clinched the WC bronze. A real bang start for our Swedish women’s national team and Kalla was hugely impressed by her former teammates.
