Charlotte Kalla heartwarmingly reveals the reason behind the tough decision to end her skiing career: “It weighed the most”

Charlotte Kalla is one of Sweden’s foremost skiers of all time.
Now she reveals the heartwarming reason why her career ended.
– It was one of the reasons that weighed the most when I decided, she tells Amelia.

Swedish skiing hero Charlotte Kalla can look back on an absolutely brilliant skiing career with many years at the top of the world. With an enormous winner’s skull and exuberant energy, she has conquered the hearts of many Swedes during the 21st century.

Called career

Kalla can boast an incredibly solid track record with a total of nine Olympic medals, thirteen World Cup medals, 59 podium places at the World Cup and as many as 50 World Championship medals. She became synonymous with the will to never give up and will be remembered for so many unforgettable feats on the slopes.

But in the end she was still forced to give up. Last year, Charlotte Kalla made the tough decision to end her skiing career and put her boots on the famous shelf for good.

Charlotte’s words

It was not an easy decision to make, but today she reveals the beautiful reason that made her put an end to her sports career.
– The fact that I wanted to get my ovulation back was one of the reasons that weighed the most when I decided that my skiing career was over. When I quit my career in March 2022, it took until August to get my period back and another few months until I ovulated. Menstruation does not have to mean ovulation when you have had a long break, she says in an open-hearted interview with Amelia.
– Then it must have gone very quickly to get pregnant, but to me it felt like the months crawled by.

After the elite investment, Charlotte Kalla has kept herself very busy studying, appearing in “Let’s Dance” as a pregnant woman, releasing her own book and starting her own podcast.
– It is wonderful that life can take up more space. I have become better at taking care of myself first, before standing up for others. Although I’m still practicing saying no instead of beating myself up. I will be a much nicer person then, she admits.

But the biggest life change came earlier this summer when she became a mother for the first time to a little boy named Alvin. Charlotte truly feels that becoming a mother has changed her as a person.
– Maybe I’m a little bloodier now than before. I’m also trying to be more forgiving with myself, even though it’s tough sometimes. I make an effort to slow down for my son’s sake and notice that I feel better when I don’t have such tight schedules, says Kalla in the interview.
– If a strength session is interrupted or something is only half-finished, I say: This is how it is now. It is a period and will not last forever.
