Charlotte Kalla is one of the participants in the Master of Masters 2025.
Now she reveals how she prepared for the autumn television recording.
– I realized that the ski-specific training that I have been used to may not be the best training for the Masters of the Masters, she tells Dagens Nyheter.
With 22 championship medals from the Olympics and World Championships, an overall victory in the Tour de Ski and the Jerring Prize in 2008 is Charlotte Kalla37, one of the greatest Swedish winter athletes of all time. Like several of our other biggest sports profiles, she is now entering the SVT program Mästarnas mästar.
Kalla is in the Master of Masters 2025
Charlotte Kalla was supposed to have been in the program two years ago, but was forced to decline at the last moment due to an injury. The following year, she had just become a mother to her son Alvin1.
– It was very sour there two years ago when I had to throw in the towel due to injury at the last minute. Now I feel incredibly happy that we will soon be at the point of departure and that we will be able to leave, she told SVT before the departure.

The program was recorded in Spain in September. The seventeenth season will premiere sometime this spring, but it has not yet been decided exactly when. Of course it is Mike Leijnegard who is the presenter, as in all previous seasons.
In addition to Kalla also participates Johan Elmander (football), Nilla Fischer (football), Thomas Heiderup (kickboxing), Tobias Karlsson (handball), Kalis Loys (basketball), Marcus Nilsson (volley-ball), Markus Oscarsson (canoe) and Emma Dahlström (freeskiing) – but it is above all the skiing queen that Leijnegard is looking forward to working with.
– It’s especially fun that Charlotte Kalla can finally join. The injury that stopped her last time is now healed, and we all know what primal power is contained in a vigorous Kalla, he said in a press release.
Charlotte’s upload before the SVT recording
When Kalla was to participate in the Champions of Masters two years ago, she had a very ambitious upload with a varied training program.
– Then I tested everything from archery to obstacle courses and also took crawling lessons to be ready, she tells Dagens Nyheter.
This year, she has tried a completely different tactic. Maybe because she has a one-year-old at home and doesn’t have time to be out and exercise as much as she wants.
– When I tried to find time for training during the summer, I felt that I didn’t want to compromise on time with Alvin – or that usual summer vacation. I’ve always enjoyed working out, but I didn’t feel like going out for evening workouts, but it had to be something that Alvin could keep up with. So there was a lot of running with a buggy and some strength training, she says.

Kalla also realized that the type of training she engaged in as an elite athlete would not necessarily be suitable for the SVT recording.
– But of course, I ran intervals and slightly different strength training because I realized that the ski-specific training that I have been used to might not be the best training for the Champion of Champions, she says.
It will be so exciting to see Charlotte Kalla and the other participants in the Champions of Champions this spring. We are already looking forward to the SVT program. Who do you think will win? Please write a comment!
