Charles Martinet is no longer the voice of Mario, Nintendo changes actor

Charles Martinet is no longer the voice of Mario Nintendo

This is the sad news of the day: after 32 years of good and loyal service, Charles Martinet is no longer the official voice of Mario. The announcement fell today at 4 p.m. sharp via a press release on Nintendo’s social networks, the man now 67 years old will be replaced by another actor whose identity we do not yet know. In order not to give the impression of brutally dismissing the actor, Nintendo announces that Charles Martinet will endorse the title as a Mario ambassador, and will continue to perpetuate his connection to the character with players at conventions and other fan events. It must be said that Charles Martinet had already been removed from the cast of the animated film Super Mario Bros at the start of the year, giving way to Chris Pratt in his original version. A decision that had generated an outcry from Mario fans, disappointed with the performance of Chris Pratt during the broadcast of the first trailer.

This sad reminds us that we had the interview in 2014, at E3, just before the release of Super Smash Bros Wii U.
