Charged with driving without a license but attends when he drives

A judge in the state of Michigan in the United States was completely perplexed when he understood what the accused Corey Harris had just committed.
The 44-year-old American appeared at the court hearing via Zoom while driving a car. The problem was that he was charged – for driving without a licence.
– I don’t understand why he did that, says judge Cedric Simpson.

In October 2023, Corey Harris was caught red-handed driving his car with a suspended license. On May 15 this year, it was time for a court hearing – which Harris, via video link, took the opportunity to squeeze in before a doctor’s appointment.

From a car.

The entire deadly sequence was caught on film – and is now being spread around the world.

“I park in this now”

– I park in this now, says Harris.

The judge, Cedric Simpson, reads the documents and only now discovers what it is about.

– Maybe it’s something I don’t understand. Is this about a suspended driver’s license?, he says in surprise and continues:

– He just drove and he doesn’t have a driver’s license?

Harris realizes his mistake and doesn’t make a sound as he receives his sentence.

– I don’t understand why he did that. He is to turn himself in to Washtenaw State Prison by 6:00 p.m. today, Cedric Simpson said.
