At the demonstration held in the capital Islamabad, a conflict broke out between the demonstrators demanding Khan’s release and the police. Pakistani police intervened with tear gas against Khan supporters who organized a demonstration in the capital, violating the ban on gatherings.

THE ARMY HAS TAKEN TO THE STREET

In order to prevent escalating clashes despite police intervention, the Pakistan Armed Forces deployed additional troops to key areas in Islamabad. The army has taken control of critical points along the Srinagar Expressway to prevent any untoward incidents.

MORE THAN 100 PEOPLE DETAINED

More than 100 people, including Khan’s sister Aleema Khanum and Uzma Khanum, were detained during the clashes. Mobile network services in the capital Islamabad and Rawalpindi were disrupted on the second day of the protests.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was detained today for allegedly organizing protests in the capital despite the ban. Gandapur is accused of misusing government resources and government-given powers.
