Chaos at the assembly on pension reform: what political consequences?

in the cacophony the first debates ended in the Assembly

In accordance with the timetable set by the government, the National Assembly completed the examination of the pension reform on Friday at midnight. The elected officials did not adopt the bill, nor even debate the crucial article 7, which postpones the retirement age to 64 years. Deputies and government used all possible means to slow down the discussions.

The nine days of debate regularly turned into a rat race: insults, invectives and incidents during the session multiplied in the hemicycle, while in the street, the demonstrators opposed to the reform expressed their dissatisfaction calmly and without noticeable overflow. The text must now be examined by the Senate. The debates in the Assembly have left a bitter taste in many elected officials, and are already having political consequences.
