Chaos at PGA Championship World No 1 arrested second round

Scottie Scheffler, the world number one in men’s golf, was arrested early Friday morning in Louisville, USA, before the second day of competition at the second major tournament of the season.

Number one in the men’s world rankings Scottie Scheffler was arrested Friday before the second round of the PGA Championship.

Scheffler rushed to the race at Valhalla Field in Louisville, Kentucky and tried to avoid an accident near the field. At first, the American golfer did not follow the police’s call to stop. Reporter for ESPN Jeff Darlington says message service X of witnessing Scheffler being handcuffed when he finally stopped his car. He was detained for a couple of hours before he was released.

According to media reports, Scheffler is accused of, among other things, assaulting a police officer, careless driving, and disobeying the traffic signs of the police directing the traffic.

According to the US media, a pedestrian who was crossing the road was killed in the accident, who was run over by a bus on the way to the golf club. Scheffler was not involved in the accident.

Due to the accident, the second round of the race was delayed by almost an hour and a half. Scheffler started the second round at around 17:10 Finnish time.

Scheffler was tied for 12th place after the opening day. In April, the American won the men’s Masters classic tournament for the second time in his career. He won his first Masters two years earlier. Scheffler has no other major tournament wins.
