Change in the law from 1 July – this is how families with children are affected

Change in the law from 1 July this is

On 1 July, there will be several new changes to parental allowance, such as an increased number of double days and the fact that you can transfer days to more people than guardians and bonus parents. Maybe it’s grandma or grandpa who gets to take parental leave?

Up to 60 double days

Now you who are parents of children born later than 1 April 2023 can take up to 60 double days.

Double days are the days that the parents are off together and when both receive parental allowance. If parents choose to take a double day, two days of parental allowance are used, because both parents’ days are taken at the same time.

Previously, parents could only take out 30 double days and only before the child turned one. But with the new change, parents can take out 60 double days until the child is 15 months old, reports The insurance fund.

You can see how many double days are available for your child by logging in to Försäkringskassan.
