Championship-seeking KuPS acquired a tough class returner | Sports in a nutshell

Brazilian striker Lucas Rangel returns to the ranks of Kuopio Palloseura, the leader of the men’s football league, with a contract for the rest of the season. KuPS said in its press release that Rangel’s contract also includes an option for the 2025 season.

Rangel, 29, played a total of 55 league matches in KuPS in the 2018-2021 seasons, in which he scored 19 goals. In total, Rangel has scored 30 goals in 83 matches in a KuPS shirt.

The Brazilian star won the 2019 Finnish championship in Kuopio.

– Everyone knows Lucas’ strengths, but the biggest reason for signing him was that he fits our style of play perfectly, KuPS head coach Jani Honkavaara quoth in the bulletin.

In the 2023–24 season, Rangel represented Kolos Kovalivka, who play in the Ukrainian premier league, and before that, Latvian Riga FC.

KuPS leads the domestic league by four points to HJK.
