The women’s super pes championship trophy Silmu broke up in a harmless situation during the Pori Pesäkarhuje championship party over the weekend.

– It was a human accident. I started to lift it off the ground and take it to the sauna. That’s when it snapped across from below and the welding must have failed. The wooden part was left in the hand, says Pesäkarhuje’s gold team Henna Juka.

The bronze Silmu trophy was designed by a visual artist Heini Aho and it was cast by an art potter, a sculptor Kirsi Siponen.

Pesäkarhut was the first team to lift the championship trophy when it defeated Manse PP in the fifth decisive final match on Saturday in Tampere at the Kaupi baseball stadium.

The festivities will continue for several more days

Henna Juka says that the feelings are still high after the weekend.

– Tired and happy feeling is at this stage. Awesome thing.

Have the parties been rough?

– Yes, they must be a bit tough at this point and the party will continue for a few more days.

Pori Pesäkarhut met their supporters on Saturday evening at Pori market. The club has not yet announced when the official victory celebration will take place.
