Champion gets a big update because of Arcane, but some players are dissatisfied and are even demanding refunds

Arcane Season 2 was again a big event, also in League of Legends. There are new skins, events and content. A champion also gets an update, but not everyone likes it because his appearance changes a lot, and so do the skins.

Which champion is it about? The champion Viktor plays a central role in Arcane. A lot changes in the series compared to its previous story and original design. Riot is now using this as a template for a champion update in the next patch, which is expected to be released on December 4, 2024.

His ultimate is slightly changed and the big change is his design. He essentially becomes an Arcane Victor. This also changes Viktor’s skins. The new design has received a mixed reception from the community. The skin changes in particular are upsetting to parts of the community. Some even demand refunds.

Many players are dissatisfied with the “new” skins

What changes about the skins? You can watch the entire Viktor update on YouTube. There you can see that the standard Viktor and prototype Viktor in particular are changing. The animations are also slightly adjusted; they appear more fluid than before.

Death Sworn Viktor also gets more changes. In general, the skins remain true to the respective theme, with slight adjustments. In general, the champion becomes a little thinner and smaller. But many players don’t seem to like this, they think they didn’t pay for it.

In a Reddit thread with over 5,000 upvotes, users comment on the topic and even demand a refund option in this case.

  • BigBowser4829: I didn’t understand what the big deal was when I first saw people mention it. Then I looked at the comparison between new and old, and I totally get it.
  • LampiShu: The last time they downgraded a skin like Deathsworn Viktor was Aetherwing Kayle. I’m still pissed that they turned one of the best (legendary) skins into one of the worst skins.
  • Sivolde: Wow, I just recently got the Deathsworn skin. This rework looks terrible.
  • Many users are also dissatisfied in the dedicated subreddit for Viktor players.

Can you refund skins? Basically, you can return skins (or champions) in League of Legends. To do this you need a refund token, which you receive in certain cycles, and the purchase must have been made in the last 90 days. However, you only receive the currency you use (RP or blue essences), there is no money back.

Riot themselves even explicitly state the following on their website regarding champion updates: We’re sorry, but we don’t refund items due to champion updates. We try to be open when making significant changes to champions.

Skins and champion designs are always a matter of taste. There are also people who like the new Viktor designs. Regular champion updates also ensure that skins change. Another Arcane skin is currently causing a stir in the community: LoL is finally releasing Jinx’s Arcane skin, but the community refuses to buy it
