Chris White and Sue Foxton will continue as chair and vice-chair of the Grand River Conservation Authority.
They were acclaimed by the board of directors at a general membership meeting on Jan. 28. An election is held at the first board meeting of each year for the two positions. The board’s 26 members including representatives appointed by municipalities within the Grand watershed.
White, mayor of Guelph-Eramosa Township and a Wellington County councilor, is a board member since 2014. He was elected chair for the first time last year after serving as vice-chair since 2016.
“The role of conservation authorities remains critical in Ontario,” White said in a news release. “The GRCA is a leading watershed management agency and despite challenges over the past years, we remain focused on the health, wellness and sustainability of our communities.”
He said he looks forward to working with all levels of government as changes are implemented to the Conservation Authorities Act.
Foxton, mayor of North Dumfries Township, has been on the board since 2015 and was elected vice-chair for the first time last year.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to support the GRCA board, staff and the communities we serve, as we work together to achieve our shared vision of a healthy watershed where people live, work, play and prosper in balance with the natural environment ,” she said.
