CESAR 2023. When is the next Cesar ceremony? What films are nominated? Where can I follow the event live? We take stock.
The next edition of the Césars is approaching. The 48th ceremony takes place on February 24, 2023 at the Olympia. It will be broadcast live and unencrypted on Canal+. The nominations have been announced: the innocent by Louis Garrel leads the race with 11 citations, followed by The Night of 12 who competed 10 times. In body and Peace – Torment on the Islands are also serious competitors, with nominations each. The details of the César 2023 nominations can be found a little further down in this article.
The presentation of the next Cesar ceremony will exceptionally be done in a collegial manner. Leïla Bekhti, Jérôme Commandeur, Jamel Debbouze, Emmanuelle Devos, Léa Drucker, Eye Haïdara, Alex Lutz, Raphaël Personnaz and Ahmed Sylla will be present to host the evening. The artistic direction of the ceremony will be provided by Eric Lartigau (director of The Aries Family). Tahar Rahim has been chosen to preside over the 48th Cesar ceremony. American director David Fincher will also receive an honorary Cesar.

Since 1976, the César du cinema ceremony has rewarded the best of the French seventh art. Prizes are awarded each year in Paris by the Académie des César, also called the Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques. It was the sculptor César who made the trophy, which has the shape of compressions of metal objects. Each year, between February and March, the ceremony is often broadcast live and unencrypted on the Canal+ channel. Radio enthusiasts can also follow the ceremony on Europe 1 from 2022. Among the most awarded films in the history of the Césars are The Last Metro and Cyrano de Bergerac (ten awards each), A Prophet (9 awards), From beating my heart stopped (8 awards). The Césars are traditionally broadcast on Canal ++, live and unencrypted. There is therefore no need to subscribe to Canal+ offers to enjoy the evening.
