After the Oscars, it’s the César’s turn to begin its competition. The nominations for the French cinema awards ceremony were made this Wednesday, January 24, 2024. And favorites already seem to be emerging one month before the event. The animal kingdom was nominated 12 times, notably in the main categories (Best film, best direction, best actor, best hopeful, etc.). After his success at the Oscars (five nominations), Anatomy of a fall continues its harvest with 11 César nominations, notably in the categories Best Film, Best Direction, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor…
Other favorites of this 2024 edition also include I will always see your faces and its 9 nominations, The Goldman trial (8 quotes), Dog of the breakage (named 7 times) and The three Musketeers (in competition for 6 Caesars). No promotion in the event of legal indictment
The announcement of the César nominations was made the day after the publication of the decision, by the Academy, to no longer highlight the personalities implicated on the legal level. Thus, it was decided that a cinema personality who would be indicted or convicted will not be invited to the various events organized by the Academy, and in particular the César Ceremony. Also, if the voters decided to award a prize “to a person who is the subject of legal indictment, this vote would not give rise to any presentation of Caesar on stage nor to any speech by or for the person concerned”, specifies the organization in a press release.
